There is an event that has been safeguarding the critical conscience of the digital world for over twenty years. It is called e-privacy, and ISGroup is proud to renew its support for its mission once again in 2019: defending freedom through awareness, culture, and technology.

The twenty-sixth edition, held in Bari on October 3rd and 4th, chose an emblematic title: “From Institutions to Blockchain”. A provocation? Perhaps. But above all, an invitation to reflect on how trust, sharing, and delegation are changing shape – and ownership – in a world where privacy is increasingly fragile.

ISGroup is there. Once again. Because privacy is a daily choice.

We are not mere spectators. ISGroup participates as a conscious partner of an event that makes independent analysis and critical thinking its banner. For us, supporting e-privacy means affirming, every day, that security is not neutral: it is a matter of ethics, method, and responsibility.

At the heart of the event – hosted by the Library of the Bari Bar Association – topics as current as they are controversial emerged: blockchain and institutions, digital surveillance, the right to be forgotten, forensic use of cryptocurrencies, and digital identity.

Among the most significant contributions, we recall:

• Monica Gobbato and Giacomo De Simio, who showed how digital authentication can open the doors to new forms of predictive profiling.
• Marco Ciurcina, with a sharp reflection on privacy and shared knowledge.
• Raoul Chiesa, who brought attention back to how, in the post-Snowden era, democracy and mass surveillance coexist in a precarious balance.

And then the question that ran through the entire conference: can we trust technologies that promise transparency but risk centralizing power?

To those who ask us why we still support e-privacy, we answer simply: because it is necessary.

And because it is not enough to “know” which side you are on. You have to prove it.
