In an era marked by health crises, geopolitical tensions, and forced digitalization, the thirtieth edition of the e-privacy conference chose a title that is as provocative as it is necessary: “Let’s suspend privacy”. An implicit question runs through the entire event: can we truly sacrifice fundamental rights – such as confidentiality – on the altar of emergency?

ISGroup renews its commitment and participates in e-privacy XXX – 2022 summer edition, held on June 16th and 17th in Florence and online. Not as a mere observer, but as an active supporter of a debate that no longer permits ambiguity: privacy is neither a luxury nor an obstacle. It is a structural right to freedom.

The quote from V for Vendetta opens the proceedings. A symbolic choice that perfectly embodies the spirit of e-privacy: to monitor, to denounce, to propose.

Two days packed with content, coordinated by historic figures of Italian digital culture, such as Marco Calamari, Diego Giorio, and Enrica Priolo. The talks ranged from the impact of the pandemic on data governance to the contradictions between public health and individual rights, and the use of invasive technologies justified by the “state of exception.”

Topics such as school proctoring, digital justice, algorithmic surveillance, and data processing in scientific research were addressed with technical rigor and a critical vision. A central focus was on MonitoraPA, a digital activism project that sparked an intense debate on transparency, legitimacy, and accountability in public administration.

ISGroup shares the cultural and political mission of e-privacy: to promote awareness, defend digital dignity, and oppose the normalization of control.
